Create Your First Schedule

A Schedule is a named timetable that holds one or more recurring class entries. For example, you might create a schedule called “Beginner Karate” and add entries for Monday 6–7 pm and Wednesday 6–7 pm. Once activated, Kanri automatically generates individual Sessions from those entries each day going forward. Sessions are what members check in to and what staff take attendance on.

You’ll need at least one program with at least one class before you can create a schedule.

  1. Go to Schedules in the main navigation.
  2. Click New Schedule.
  3. Enter a Name for the schedule (e.g. “Beginner Karate”).
  4. Click Create Schedule.

Kanri creates the schedule and opens the visual schedule editor.

Step 2: Add your class times in the editor

Section titled “Step 2: Add your class times in the editor”

The schedule editor shows a weekly grid with days across the top and hours down the side. You build your timetable by adding session blocks directly onto the grid.

  1. Double-click an empty time slot to add a session at that point. Or click and drag to draw the session block directly, from the start time to the end time.
  2. A panel opens on the side. Select the Program and Class for this session. Optionally select a Class Variant and enter a Location (e.g. “Main Hall”).
  3. Click Save Changes in the panel to confirm the session.
  4. Repeat for each class time you want to add. You can add multiple sessions across different days and classes in the same schedule.
  5. When you’re done, click the Save button in the top right of the editor to save your changes.

New schedules are inactive by default. Activating tells Kanri to start generating sessions.

  1. Click Activate on the schedule page.
  2. Confirm by clicking Activate again.

Kanri will now generate sessions for this schedule going forward. Sessions are not created retroactively.

After activating, the schedule page shows the upcoming sessions Kanri has generated. If the times or dates look wrong, check your school’s timezone setting. That’s the most common cause of incorrect session times.

Each session is a single class occurrence with a date and time. When a member checks in at the kiosk or you take attendance, it’s recorded against a specific session. Sessions are created automatically going forward based on your schedule.
